Philippine 9G Work Visa: Employer Sponsorship, Filing Steps, and Common Problems
The Philippine 9(g) pre-arranged employment visa is an employer-sponsored immigration status for a foreign national coming to engage in a lawful occupation for compensation. A job offer alone does not authorize employment, and a pending application should not be treated as permission to work or remain after an authorized stay expires.
The Philippine employer is central to the filing
The Bureau of Immigration requires a joint request and corporate or employment documents establishing the petitioner, position, and proposed engagement. Company registrations, tax records, employment terms, and workforce information should be current and consistent with the application.
The 9G visa and AEP serve different functions
The Alien Employment Permit is issued by DOLE, while the 9G visa is acted upon by Immigration. The current commercial 9G checklist calls for the DOLE-issued AEP and proof of publication. Employers should coordinate the two processes rather than assume that one approval replaces the other.
Check status and documentary consistency
Passport validity, latest admission, authorized stay, job title, compensation, work location, and employer identity must align across the file. Changes during processing can require new or amended evidence. The applicant should remain in lawful status and obtain advice before travel or commencing work.
Expect procedural steps after submission
BI’s published procedure includes pre-screening, payment, a hearing, image and fingerprint capture, ACR I-Card processing, approval checking, and passport submission for visa implementation. Processing conditions and authorized filing offices should be verified at the time of application.
Plan for renewals and the end of employment
The employer and employee should track visa and AEP validity and address changes in role, assignment, corporate structure, or employment. When employment ends, visa downgrading and departure or change-of-status planning may be required. See BizzureVisa immigration services or contact our team.
