DOLE Centralized Alien Employment Permit Processing: What Employers Should Check

Employers hiring foreign nationals should confirm where an Alien Employment Permit application must now be filed. The Department of Labor and Employment announced that processing, evaluation, and issuance of new and renewal AEP applications were centralized at its Central Office effective 9 June 2026 under Administrative Order No. 199, series of 2026. Regional offices were directed to stop handling those transactions.
Why the filing channel matters
An application prepared for an old regional-office process may be misrouted or delayed. Before relying on an earlier checklist or appointment, the employer should check DOLE’s official announcement and the current Central Office instructions. The governing AEP rules remain in Department Order No. 248-25, subject to later issuances.
The employer should reconcile the proposed job title, actual duties, salary, work location, and corporate identity across the employment contract, AEP papers, and immigration application. AEP and 9G visa processes involve different agencies and do not substitute for one another. A change in employer or position may require fresh action before the employee begins the new work.
Build time for two agencies
Employers should start before the expected work date or permit expiry, confirm the latest DOLE submission route and payment instructions, and plan the Bureau of Immigration step separately. A pending application is not a safe basis to assume that work may begin or continue. Retain proof of filing, notices, and the issued permit in the personnel file.
Our immigration and work-visa team can help coordinate AEP and 9G timing. Contact BizzureVisa with the employer, job, nationality, and current immigration status. This is general information; agency requirements and individual eligibility must be checked at filing.
