A foreign national hired for regular Philippine employment commonly deals with two authorities. DOLE issues the Alien Employment Permit, while the Bureau of Immigration acts on the pre-arranged employment visa under Section 9(g). Each document serves a different purpose, and one approval does not automatically grant the other.
Plan the AEP first
DOLE Department Order No. 248, Series of 2025 governs the AEP process. The employer should confirm the position, compensation, period, qualifications, corporate authority, and sector approval before filing.
The AEP supports the 9G application
The BI checklist for conversion to a commercial 9G visa requires the DOLE-issued AEP and proof of its publication. The employment-permit process therefore must reach the required stage before the 9G conversion record can be completed.
Prepare both files together
While the AEP is processed, the employer can assemble the joint request, passport and admission records, employment agreement, tax and corporate records, workforce certification, clearances, and other items in the current BI checklist. Job details should remain consistent across submissions.
Use the current centralized channel
DOLE announced centralized evaluation and issuance of new and renewal AEP applications effective June 9, 2026 under Administrative Order No. 199, Series of 2026. Employers should verify the live channel and vacancy-publication rules rather than rely on an older regional workflow.
Protect lawful status
A pending employment plan does not authorize work or excuse an expired stay. Passport validity, authorized stay, admission records, and any interim work authority should be reviewed early. Learn about Philippine visa services or contact BizzureVisa.
