Extending a Philippine 9G Visa: Prepare the Employer Record Early
A 9G employment visa should be reviewed well before its expiry date. The extension is an opportunity for the Bureau of Immigration to confirm continuing employment under the relevant petitioning company. Employers that wait until the final days may have difficulty correcting outdated corporate documents or inconsistent workforce information.
Follow the current BI checklist
The Bureau of Immigration’s 9G service page identifies the extension route for an existing commercial 9G holder who will continue employment in the Philippines. It lists an application form, documentary checklist, information on children where relevant and a notarized certification of foreign and Filipino employee numbers. The applicant should use the latest BI checklist for the specific visa and filing office.
Before submission, compare the employer’s SEC and tax records, the position and worksite, the employee’s passport, Alien Employment Permit position and existing 9G record. Changes in employer or role may require a different immigration analysis rather than a routine extension. Keep proof of timely filing and track any BI request for additional documents.
Coordinate the card and travel plan
The BI states that biometrics captured during visa conversion may be used for the renewed ACR I-Card in an extension. Still, check the status of both the visa and card before travel. A pending extension does not automatically resolve every departure or re-entry issue.
Our visa team can review the extension calendar and supporting records. Contact BizzureVisa with the visa expiry date and any change since the last approval.
This is general information. The BI’s current requirements and the holder’s particular status govern the application.
